Music Festival launched by The Mayor
Midsummer Music Madness a concert celebrating the musical talents of students from Schools in the Havant area was officially launched on the 27th April by Mayor Councilor Cyril Hilton.
The launch will took place at the Civic Offices at Havant. Students from Park Community School presented a taster of the show on the evening. They were led by John Gleadall from Park School who has agreed to be be Musical Director for the concert.
The show is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Havant in conjunction with The South East Hampshire Schools Federation.
This is the first major event that the Federation schools have participated in together. Musical Director John Gleadall said "This is an excellent opportunity to showcase the student's skills as well as bringing the schools and students together. Personally I would also like to say that I am delighted to resurrect the concept of joint music making between the school - this first happened in
the 1950's and petered out some years ago when teachers found that they were so pressured that they no longer had time to organise the event - without the help of the Rotary organisation the idea of a joint music festival would have remained moribund - so thanks!!"
Havant Rotary President, Myles Cullen said " We are delighted to be working with the schools and to be promoting and sponsoring this concert. We hope that it will grow into an annual event. It is important to celebrate the talent that is in our Schools"
